The Story behind The Loving
“The Lovings”
Discover the inspiration behind our wedding venue's name, 'The Loving.' Named in honor of Richard and Mildred Loving, whose landmark legal battle for interracial marriage rights reshaped history.
The case centered around Richard Loving, a Caucasian man, and his spouse, Mildred Loving, an African American woman. In 1959, the Lovings faced imprisonment for defying Virginia's Racial Integrity Act of 1924, a law that outlawed marriages between individuals labeled as "white" and those labeled as "colored". Following an unsuccessful appeal to the Supreme Court of Virginia, they escalated their case to the U.S. Supreme Court, contending that the Racial Integrity Act violated the constitution.
In June 1967, the Supreme Court delivered a unanimous verdict in favor of the Lovings, overturning their convictions and nullifying Virginia's Racial Integrity Act. Their love story, courage, and triumph echo throughout our venue, inviting couples of all backgrounds to celebrate their love without boundaries.

The Family behind the Venue
Introducing Catherine & Alex Kisenyi.
Their journey began in Uganda, where Catherine was teaching and fate brought them together. Their love story culminated in a magical wedding in Iceland, and they returned to the States to build their life together, nestled amongst family in Warren County.
Their union was blessed in a charming black-painted church, a moment that ignited their entrepreneurial spirit. Inspired by their own wedding venue, this embarked them on a mission to create something special of their own.
Their shared vision is simple yet profound: to provide an affordable, yet elegant venue for all, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to celebrate life's milestones without financial burden.
